Must Have Carry On Items

When I travel I normally bring my trusty brown leather backpack.  I remember, when I was young, my mom pulling a camera out of the same bag to take a picture of my sister and I in front of the Trevi Fountain in Rome. She eventually passed it on to me, and I'm happy to say it has embarked on many adventures and witnessed many cities since was handed down.  I bring it everywhere, it's the perfect size, classic enough to last the test of time and the perfect color to match any outfit.

My backpack is full of my must-have travel entertainment:

Travel magazines (usually Conde Nast Traveller, Travel and Leisure and Departures...or all three!)

A colorful notebook from Anthropologie.

Yesto cucumber soothing facial towelettes and hand lotion. My personal favorite is Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm that my friend got me for my birthday and I have since become obsessed.

Any kind of headphones.

A poncho or large scarf (more like a blanket).

My Computer, or iPad if it's a quick trip.

Crossbody bag to keep all my goodies in throughout the trip.

On the other hand, there are a few items I ALWAYS pack in my carry on no matter where I'm headed.

Facemask for the night I arrive to re-nourish my skin after a dehydrating flight.

Comfortable shoes, let that be Birkenstocks for a summer trip to Europe or hiking boots to Patagonia.

Pair of leggings, my personal favorites are Lululemon high times pant.  You can throw them on with a t-shirt, a sweater or a tank and be good to go, they also dry quickly if you need to hand wash them and are traveling for long periods of time.

Nike frees so I never have an excuse not to work out even if that means going on a quick run, the fitness center at a hotel or a hike. They are really light and squishy so are easy to squeeze into any bag.
